An iron ornament that holds motion within stillness
The Goldfish is an iron ornament created for interior and decorative use.
Its outline captures a fleeting moment of swimming, yet without exaggerating movement. Designed to rest quietly within a space, the piece carries a calm presence, supported by the weight and density inherent to iron, which lends it a sense of stability and composure.
A form balanced between sharpness and restraint
The overall shape reflects the flowing lines of a goldfish, while deliberately avoiding excessive realism.
During the polishing process, particular emphasis is placed on preserving the clarity of the contours, while adjusting edges so that, as iron, the surface does not become overly sharp. Though created to be viewed, the piece is finished to feel natural and unobtrusive when touched.
Unified casting through Namagata and careful hand-finishing
This piece is produced as a single, unified form using the Namagata (green-sand casting) method.
All polishing and final adjustments after casting are carried out entirely by hand. Rather than pursuing uniformity through mass production, each piece is refined to maintain the core structure of the form while allowing subtle individual expression. Even as a small ornamental object, no steps in the process are omitted.
