Formed using the namagata (green sand casting) method, this shallow circular plate features a restrained profile with a subtle rim and a radiating arare pattern at its center. Rather than prescribing a single purpose, it is designed as a versatile object—an iron vessel meant to adapt freely within a space.

Clear contours shaped by inner and outer circles

The overall form is extremely thin, approaching a flat plane.

A gentle rise along the outer edge defines the boundary of the plate, while a shallow recess forms the inner circle. At the center, a radial arare motif quietly emerges, adding tension and rhythm to the surface. The design remains understated, yet the layered contours give the piece a distinct presence.

Surface precision achieved through namagata casting and polishing

This piece is cast using the namagata method and finished through a careful polishing process.

During polishing, particular attention is paid to ensuring that both the inner and outer circular contours clearly emerge. While maintaining flatness, adjustments are made so that the boundaries do not become indistinct. Because the form is intentionally restrained, the precision of the surface plays a decisive role in the final impression.
