A tetsubin that quietly accompanies everyday tea moments
Kikumaru Arare is a cast iron kettle made for boiling water in daily use.
Its softly rounded form, combined with the finely applied arare pattern covering the entire body, creates a presence that remains calm and understated. Rather than a vessel reserved for special occasions, this tetsubin is designed to be naturally integrated into everyday tea time.
A stable form and a calm, balanced usability
The overall shape is a low, rounded silhouette with a carefully lowered center of gravity.
An even arare pattern runs across the body, maintaining visual rhythm while preserving a quiet impression. The lid knob is kept low, the spout is short and set at a natural angle, and the handle forms a generous arc that supports smooth pouring. Every element is designed to align effortlessly with daily movements, resulting in a calm and reliable user experience.
Consideration and craftsmanship unique to sogata casting
This piece is cast using the sogata method.
Because the design results in a fragile mold structure, particular care is required during removal after casting. The mold is released gently, without applying excessive force, to preserve both form and pattern. Though invisible in the finished piece, layers of careful judgment and restraint underpin the successful completion of this tetsubin.
