A soup bowl that brings a quiet sense of weight and balance to everyday meals

The Iron Bowl (Cloth-Lacquered) is a lacquer soup bowl designed for everyday use.
Its deep red aka-tame finish and grounded, substantial presence lend a natural sense of stability and depth to daily dining. With a restrained, straightforward form, the bowl is easy to incorporate into everyday meals, particularly for soups and broths, without feeling formal or ceremonial.

A form that balances ease of handling and stability

The rounded body characteristic of the iron-bowl form, combined with a firmly defined foot, makes the bowl easy to lift and hold.
The overall thickness provides a reassuring sense of weight and balance when held in the hand. Its smooth, matte surface settles gently into the palm, offering a calm and composed user experience.

This bowl is not suitable for dishes prepared with very hot oil.

Handcraft focused on uniformity through cloth-lacquer technique

The Iron Bowl (Cloth-Lacquered) is produced using the cloth-lacquer technique.
After applying linen cloth to the base, layers of lacquer are built up using nori-urushi. Achieving an even surface through this process is highly demanding, as even slight variations in thickness or drying can appear directly in the finished expression.

Careful control of lacquer application and drying conditions is required at every stage. The quiet depth visible within the red aka-tame finish emerges from these accumulated adjustments and attentive handwork.
